Arsenal snap up highly-rated youngster from Barcelona

Arsenal have snatched exciting Germany youth international midfielder Georgios Spanoudakis away from Barcelona, according to the Metro.
The 15-year old rejected a move to a series of other sides to make the move to the Emirates Stadium this week. Spanoudakis was highly-rated within Barcelona’s famous La Masia academy setup, which has previously been responsible for the likes of Lionel Messi, Xavi and Andres Iniesta.
The central midfielder moved to the Catalan giants in 2009 from Eintracht Frankfurt, playing for Barca’s many youth teams in the years since.
Capped by Germany at both Under-15 and Under-16 level, Spanoudakis is also eligible to play for Greece, with a belief that the Greek FA have already spoken about him playing for them in the future.
The German youth international will join Arsenal’s Under-18 side for the new season, although he is seen as a genuine prospect for the future.
There is a good precedent for Spanoudakis to follow, with Cesc Fabregas having previously made the move from Barcelona to Arsenal as a young player.
