Arsenal are in talks with AC Milan over the prospective transfer of Joel Campbell - the Costa Rica forward who dazzled at the World Cup in Brazil this summer. (Metro)
The 22-year-old forward had been expected to be given a chance in Arsene Wenger's first-team this season, but if reports coming out of Italy are to be believed, Campbell could be heading to the San Siro.
Gunners fans will be disappointed to see a player with such potential depart the Emirates Stadium without ever making a senior appearance for the north London club.
Since signing for Arsenal in 2011, Campbell has taken in loan spells in France, Germany and Greece - but had hoped that his recent form would give him a shot at playing in the Premier League.
The youngster has returned from his post World Cup holiday to join up with the Gunners pre-season squad, but after Milan made contact with Arsenal on Wednesday he could soon be on his way out again.
A formal bid is expected from the Serie 'A' giants in the coming days, with Campbell's valuation mooted at £16 million following his sensational displays in South America this summer
