Liverpool have agreed a deal for Queens Park Rangers striker Loic Remy, according to Sky Sports.
Remy has been sought-after by Liverpool, Arsenal and Newcastle this summer, however, his wage demands have been a sticking point for clubs interested in him. The Frenchman was refusing to budge from his £80,000-a-week salary and Liverpool seemed like they would pull out of the race due to that, like Arsenal did.
Remy was keen on leaving QPR and staying in the capital, which made Arsenal favourites for the France internationals signature. However, Wenger did not want to meet Remy’s demands and Brendan Rodgers has now capitalised on that.
Remy had an £8 million escape clause in his contract at Loftus Road for Champions League clubs, which applied to Liverpool. They have now agreed a deal in the region of £8.5 million and Remy is expected to sign for the club by the beginning of next week.
It will be Brendan Rodgers fifth signing of the summer after the arrivals of Adam Lallana, Rickie Lambert, Emra Can and Lazar Markovic.
