Tottenham and Arsenal linked with a move for Dutch star

Holland defender Joel Veltman could be set to make a switch to the Premier League with North London duo Arsenal and Tottenham both keen on the 22 year old.

It is a surprise to see a defensive player in Louis Van Gaal’s Dutch national team being linked with a Premier League club without any mention of Manchester United, however it is reported that the player has been on Spurs radar for a long time.
Indeed, before Tottenham appointed Mauricio Pochettino as their new manager, they were strongly linked with Frank de Boer in regards to the managerial position, and would have spent some time watching his Ajax side, of which Veltman is a key part.
2013-2014 was a breakthrough year for Veltman as he made 25 appearances in the league, having only made 7 appearances the season prior. It would be quite early for Veltman to make the move to a big team such as Tottenham or Arsenal at this stage given his lack of experience playing in the dutch league, never mind at a level like the Premier league.
Veltman has however made it into the Dutch squad for the World Cup based on his performances, and made it on to the pitch for the unforgettable 5-1 victory over the Spanish. Perhaps Tottenham and Arsenal will be convinced that if he has shown the right qualities, his lack of experience will not stop him from being a very capable squad member.
