Real Madrid are reportedly willing to use Arsenal and Chelsea target Sami Khedira as a makeweight in their bid to sign Monaco’s James Rodriguez, reports the Daily Mirror.
Rodriguez was sensational for Colombia at the World Cup, and he finished the tournament as top scorer with six goals. The Champions League winners are believed to have made an offer of £67 million for the 23-year-old, but Monaco want goalkeeper Diego Lopez to be included in the deal, though Madrid are prepared to part with Khedira instead.
Khedira only has one year remaining on his deal at the Bernabeu, and he has yet to commit to an extension. The World Cup winner missed most of last season with a knee injury, and Madrid’s recent signing of Germany teammate Toni Kroos means his place in the starting eleven is under threat.
Arsenal have been heavily linked with a £25 million move for the 27-year-old, but reports suggested the Gunners are unwilling to meet his current wage demands. Chelsea are also keeping an eye on developments, and Khedira was a favourite of Jose Mourinho during his time as Real Madrid manager.
